Since the Chinese Spy Balloon fiasco, relations between two Super Powers China and US has nosedived to a new low. Recently US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference amid growing tensions between US and China.
US warns China of not to repeat its irresponsible act
In the meeting US Secretary Anthony Blinken warned China to not repeat it’s “irresponsible act”of sending a spy balloon into American airspace.
There has been a state of alarm in the US since a huge balloon from China was spotted over a series of nuclear weapon sites and sensitive military installations. The gigantic balloon was shot down by an US F-22 fighter on the east coast of US.
Spy Balloon incident ruptures diplomatic ties between US and China
Spy Balloon incident played an important role in rupturing the diplomatic ties between US and China and angry Blinken abruptly called off trip to China.
State Department spokesman Ned Price had this to state,
“directly spoke to the unacceptable violation of US sovereignty and international law by (China’s) high-altitude surveillance balloon in US territorial airspace, underscoring that this irresponsible act must never again occur”,
He further added,
“The Secretary made clear the United States will not stand for any violation of our sovereignty,”
Ned Price also stated that Blinken also warned Wang , during their rare face to face meeting
“about the implications and consequences if China provides material support to Russia or assistance with systemic sanctions evasion”,
According to senior State Department official, Blinken was “very direct and candid” during the talks which lasted for an hour. Blinken was also very blunt as he discussed about Russia, with his Chinese counterpart.
Wang had this thing to say to Blinken “relationship between both countries have damaged by how Washington reacted to the balloon incident.
China says US reaction “hysterical and absurd”
Also Wang speaking at the gathering of world leaders in Munich, condemned US reaction to the balloon as “hysterical and absurd” and had this to say about his meeting with Wang,
“made clear China’s solemn position on the so-called airship incident”, and “urged the US side to change course, acknowledge and repair the damage that its excessive use of force caused to China-US relations,”
