Nusr-et aka Salt Bae was an overnight success
After a 2017 internet meme went viral, Nusr-et Gokce, aka Salt Bae, rose to fame. He achieved overnight success with the novel way he was seasoning his steak with salt. His eccentric appearance—a white shirt and sunglasses—furthered the relatability of the meme. Salt Bae benefited from his sudden rise to fame by opening up a network of eateries in all the world’s major cities.
Netizens stunned with the humungous bill
Everyone was astonished by the costs at the Turkish chef’s new London restaurant in September 2021. And it turns out that his restaurant in Abu Dhabi is the same. A bill from Salt Bae’s restaurant in The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, was posted on social media. The total amount of the bill, which was dated November 17, 2022, was AED 615 065, or around Rs 1.36 crores. The list’s priciest items included baklava, pricey Bordeaux wine, and the renowned gold-plated Istanbul steak.
While sharing the photograph, chef Nusr-et wrote in the caption “Quality never expensive.”
