Viral Video: On social media, a video of a Boeing aeroplane losing a wheel during takeoff has gone viral. The wheels of a Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifter are seen falling in this trending video as the flight departs from Taranto, Italy.
The incident was recorded by the aviation blog “Aeroin” in Brazil. The video captures the moment a 100 kg aeroplane wheel dropped to the ground from the 180 tonne Boeing Dreamlifter, the world’s longest cargo plane.

The video was tweeted by the blog with the caption, “Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifter has one of its wheels on fire and loses its wheel after takeoff.” Watch Video:
As the wheel comes loose, black smoke can be seen emanating from the cargo jet’s undercarriage. It then impacted the ground and continued to bounce below the aircraft. According to reports, the missing component was allegedly discovered in a nearby vineyard near Taranto-Grottaglie Airport.
Following the incident, which was confirmed by Boeing, “An Atlas Air-operated Dreamlifter cargo flight safely landed at Charleston International Airport earlier today after losing a wheel assembly from its landing gear on takeoff from the Taranto-Grottaglie Airport in Italy this morning, October 11.”
