Wagner: Russian mercenary group Wagner’s leader Yevgeny Prigozhin released a video Monday, a day after his mutiny, that was called off unilaterally. Prigozhin said that it was not his intention to overthrow the elected government in Russia but rather he wanted to register a protest on over Russia incompetence in Ukraine War. On Monday, Prigozhin released a 11 minute video on his telegram channel.
“We showed a master class, as it should have been on Feb. 24, 2022. We did not have the goal of overthrowing the existing regime and the legally elected government.” Prigozhin said. He also proclaimed that Wagner is the most effective fighting force in the world, not just Russia. Boasting his capabilities he stated that his forces took military facilities in Rostov-on-don and marched military convoy 200 km outside of Moscow without bloodshed.
Averting bloodshed and Subverting expectations
Prigozhin reiterated his allegation of Russian military attacks on a Wagner camp with missiles and helicopters that claimed the lives of 30 men. So far now evidence has been put forward by the military group. The moment it was obvious that blood would be shed if Wagner continued his march towards Moscow, Progzhin called off the attack. He also expressed his regret for having to kill Russian soldiers who attacked them from helicopters. “The aim of the march was to avoid the destruction of Wagner,” he said.
