Ukrainian Railways is running a special train to rescue the stranded students. The Government of India is running ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indian students trapped in Ukraine. So far more than 1100 students have come to India from Ukraine in this operation.
A large number of Indian students have already been evacuated from Ukraine by the Government of India. The Modi government has made a new strategy to evacuate the remaining Indian students still trapped in Ukraine. Under this, four ministers will be sent to neighboring countries of Ukraine. Then these ministers will talk to the Indian people trapped in Ukraine and make arrangements for their evacuation. According to sources, he will be sent as a ‘special envoy’ of India. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis.
According to the advisory issued on Sunday, Ukrainian Railways is operating special trains to evacuate people free of cost at the railway station on a ‘first come first serve’ basis and for which tickets are not required. The embassy said it was closely monitoring the developing situation, particularly in the eastern regions of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine has agreed to hold talks with Russia on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border to end the war.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Sunday that India has so far evacuated nearly 2,000 of its citizens from war-torn Ukraine and efforts are on to evacuate other citizens trapped there through various transit points located on the borders of neighboring countries. Talking to reporters, Shringla said that he has held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Ukraine and Russia and shared the location of Indian nationals living in Ukraine to ensure their safety.
