WHO Chief Tedros stated he was about to postpone the event after learning that his uncle had been “murdered by the Eritrean army” during a press conference with the UN reporters organisation on Wednesday.
Tedros revealed that his uncle was murdered by the Eriterian Army
Tedros”I spoke to my mother and she was terribly heartbroken, since he was the youngest member of his family and was a young uncle”
The WHO director continued, “[His uncle] was not alone. When they murdered him in his home, more than 50 residents of the same village were killed. just randomly.
I hope the peace accord will stand and that this madness will come to an end, he remarked.
Last weekend, I found out that my uncle was murdered by #Eritrean army in his own house. It is another painful loss for my family due to the ongoing violence in #Tigray, Ethiopia. Peace is all the people and families need.

Ceasefire Deal
On 2nd November Ethopia’s Government and Tigarayan rebels reached a ceasefire pact
Ethiopia’s government and Tigrayan rebels reached a ceasefire pact on 2 November, after two years of fighting that has brought enormous human misery.
Untold numbers of people have died as a result of the violence, which has also uprooted more than two million people from their homes and brought hundreds of thousands to the verge of hunger.
However, the cease-fire includes no mention of Eritrean troops, who have backed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s forces and are suspected of carrying out crimes, being present on Ethiopian soil or of any potential withdrawal.
Tedros, a native of Tigray and former health and foreign minister of Ethiopia, has consistently urged for peace and unrestricted aid access to the area.
Tedros expressed concern for the areas still governed by Eritrean troops in a press conference on December 2.
