- World Civil Defence Day is observed every year on 1 March.
- World Civil Defence Day is celebrated to draw attention to the importance of civil security and to pay tribute to the efforts and sacrifices of those fighting disasters.
- In 1990, the World Civil Defense Day was started by the International Civil Defense Organization General Assembly.
- It commemorates the day when the International Civil Protection Organization Constitution came into force in 1972 as an inter-governmental organization.
- It is noteworthy that in the year 1931, the International Civil Defense Organization was founded by the French General Surgeon George St. Paul.
- This organization was recognized by the French Parliament in June 1935 and in the year 1972 was recognized as an inter-governmental organization.
