World Diabetes Day 2022: Through a variety of annual programmes, World Diabetes Day is a day set aside for spreading awareness of the condition and related challenges. More than 160 countries have launched more than 100 awareness-raising campaigns to increase patient access to care and spread accurate information about the condition of diabetes.
Although the causes of diabetes vary from person to person, some of the most typical risk factors include obesity, a poor diet, drinking alcohol, and a sedentary lifestyle. In many cases, age is also quite important. Genetics also have a role in diabetes inheritance.

What causes diabetes?

- being affected by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Diabetes develops biologically when the pancreas fails to release the hormone insulin, which aids your body in retaining sugar from diet. It may occur as a result of the body developing insulin resistance, the pancreas not producing any insulin, or both.
When the insulin hormone is absent, the food-derived residual blood glucose is unable to enter the cells and instead builds up in the bloodstream. High blood sugar levels result from this.
Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms
Diabetes symptoms range from common and widespread to uncommon ones. All of these symptoms, though, are quite obvious, and you should visit your doctor if they occur frequently.
Diabetes’s most typical signs and symptoms include:
- Higher appetite
- Unexpected decrease of weight
- Frequent urination and unquenchable thirst
- Fatigue
- Poor libido
- Dry and itchy skin
- Yeast infections

Diabetes Prevention Methods
Most diabetes prevention strategies involve dietary and lifestyle modifications. If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes, you must take the required steps to stop or at least delay the onset of type 2 diabetes’ chronic stage.
The following actions and alterations can help you prevent diabetes:
- 5 days a week minimum, engage in 30 minutes of exercise. Cardio, cycling, swimming, or walking can all be a part of your programme.
- You should consume more whole foods. Consume as much whole grains, fresh fruits, and veggies as you can.
- If you are obese, make an effort to shed some pounds in a healthy way.
- Drink a lot of water and stay away from beverages with added sugar.
- Trans fats, processed carbs, and saturated fats should not be consumed.
- Reduce your portion size by working at it. To prevent binge eating, make sure to do it gradually.
- Get regular checkups so you can spot any warning signs and symptoms and quickly take action.
Keep in mind that diabetes brought on by genetics or ageing cannot be halted. You will unavoidably inherit the disease if diabetes runs in your family. Additionally, your chances of avoiding developing diabetes are slim if you are older than 45.
However, diabetes can be avoided by living a healthier lifestyle, limiting sugar and processed carbs, and making improvements to eating habits.
