Chinese President Xi Jinping can reach Saudi Arabia on Thursday. According to the news, during this visit, Xi can participate in the Sino-Arab summit held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. 14 Arab heads of state are expected to participate in this conference.
Xi Jinping may attend China-Arab summit
China-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) conference will also be organized during Xi Jinping’s two-day visit. Significantly, the government of Saudi Arabia and China have not yet confirmed Xi Jinping’s visit to Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government declined to respond to news channel request for information on Xi’s visit and the planned summit.
A few days ago the US President visited Saudi Arabia
In July, US President Joe Biden visited Saudi Arabia, where he raised the issue of the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Biden said he believed the Saudi leader was responsible for Jamal Khashoggi’s death.
US relations with China have been strained not only with Saudi Arabia. China and Saudi Arabia have also taken different positions in the West regarding the Ukraine war. Both have refrained from endorsing sanctions on Russia, and Saudi Arabia has repeatedly said Russia is a major energy-producing partner.
Saudi Arabia was accused of supporting Russia
Following massive oil cuts last month, some US officials have accused Saudi Arabia of favoring Russia and aiding President Vladimir Putin in his war against Ukraine. Significantly, Saudi officials have denied either weaponizing oil or taking sides with Russia.
